GIRLS: Jeri Lee

With the lavish Jeri Lee slightly covered in white sheets and exhausted from her podium shift the night before, it seemed only rude of me not to join her for some breakfast in bed and early morning conversation about the misunderstanding of go-go dancing, the Australian colloquial language and crotchless lingerie.
I can see that life’s getting a bit tense these days for workaholics like you and I. Got any recommendations for good places to blow off some steam?
If you really want to have a good time and get your mind off shit then just go to Vegas. Get drunk, go to strip bars and just have a great time out doing whatever the hell you want. You can be anybody, you can be a rock star if you want.
Sounds like a plan. Is Vegas one of your personal favourites when you’re on the road?
It use to be but I don’t really gamble so you can imagine how ironic that is, plus I’m not much of a drinker anymore, I quit.
Vegas and no drinking?
Well I’ve been good now for 2 years and a few months, yeah I was a pretty bad alcoholic. But now I just let my friends do it and just watch on the side. I still go out to the clubs to dance and party though.
Speaking of dancing, I remember the last time we spoke you were on tour doing your go-go thing, still dancing away in clubs with the skimpy outfits?
Yeah I’m still go-go dancing, and NO I’M NOT A STRIPPER! Just thought I’d clear that up for the people that constantly ask.
We keep our clothes on, all the time. We are entertainment and eye candy for the audience at clubs when we’re dancing on the podium, stage or in go-go cages. And of course we wear really cute stuff and just play dress up.
Outfits and cages ay… Shit I’ve been going to the wrong clubs! So in what other cities have you danced your ass off?
I’ve been all over the US, different parts of Asia like Japan and Philippines, Guam, Puerto Rico and of course here, Australia.
Speaking of Asia, what was your mix again?
I’m half Philipino and half Mexican.
No I don’t speak it at all sorry, I’m so white-washed I mean I grew up in Orange County for Christ sake, you can so tell just from my voice. I grew up as a cheer leader and hung out with all the white girls. I can get by though with a bit of Philipino here and there. By the way, why do you guys call them Philo here?
It’s ’cause we do things a bit more casual down under, so we tend to abbreviate a lot of shit.
F*^ckn lazy Aussies, all I’ve learnt down here is your slang and rude words, do you realise you guys say the C-word a lot?
What, you mean the word that’s based on the female anatomy? Where have you been hanging around? Try getting out of Penrith for a change…
It’s just such a low word, but I love saying it down here so I’m really taking advantage of it. That’s so crazy.
That’s right, be one with the locals. Speaking of crazy, we’re in a pretty plush setting right now, what’s been the craziest thing you’ve ever done in a hotel room? Vegas, maybe?
I really don’t think I’m allowed to say that. Umm yeah I can’t.
Oh, come on I give you permission. You use the C-word on a constant basis but you can’t tell me a few dirty stories?
It’s really more for legal purposes.
Understood. So you’re modelling some sexy ass lingerie for this shoot, any favourites?
Honestly, well I’ve never worn it but I love looking at the crotchless underwear (laughs hysterically). I bought a pair once for shits and giggles and thought it was the funniest thing ever, I just remember thinking, how the hell do you wear this thing? But I still haven’t had the occasion to wear them though.
How come, has there been no man worthy of the cause?
No it’s not that, I’m very much in love with my man. There just hasn’t been the right occasion yet.
What about him in g-string?
I think that would be just great, I wouldn’t mind that at all.
I see you’ve got a few tatts, are you a fan of the Chicano styles like Mr Cartoon?
Yeah I’ve got a friend that knows him, I’d love to get a piece done by Toons. I have a massive Latina side that’s why I loved doing Lowrider mag in the US.
What was that experience like?
It was awesome, I was on the February issue this year. I was so excited that I got cover and was on the girls of Lowrider section as it really showed my Mexican side. I love old-school Impalas but I also love the import scene with rides like Skylines and Supras, so I always try to get the best of both worlds when I’m doing photo shoots for car magazines.
So next time we meet am I going to see you hittin' the switches on a low low, smoking some tyres or going ape shit in a night club cage?
Who knows? I’d love to be doing all of the above.
