Liqui-Moly is involved in various events around the world, however none is bigger than the Bathurst 12-Hour race. It’s a phenomenal event in every regard, with Liqui-Moly Australia (MotorActive) utilising this unique opportunity to give around 55 VIP guests the Liqui-Moly Experience. “My wife wasn’t a motor racing fan, but after experiencing the Bathurst 12-Hour as a guest of Liqui-Moly, Julie is now a convert,” says Darren Last from Lastys in Geelong. Adan Cummings from Maag & Stucki in Sydney backed this up: “It’s my wedding anniversary this weekend but I wouldn’t miss this for the world!” Both Adan and Darren were amongst the sizable group comprising premier Performance Club customers who secured their invite by faithfully supporting Liqui-Moly throughout the year. For many it was their second invite, with a number commenting that it’s such a great weekend they’ll do whatever it takes to be back again next year.
So what is it about the Bathurst 12-Hour Experience that makes it so highly prized? Sure, Liqui-Moly’s impressive corporate suite has clear views back up Conrod Straight along with a prime position overlooking the finish line – making it the best seat in the house to witness the dramatic last-corner reshuffle unfold, which not even the TV cameras caught.
Sure, the suite had great food, a fully stocked fridge and the lovely Liqui-Moly ladies. And yes, Liqui-Moly’s sole owner, Ernst Prost, made the trek from Liqui-Moly’s headquarters in Ulm, Germany, to happily mingle and personally thank everybody for being Liqui-Moly customers and an enthusiastic part of the Liqui-Moly family. However in keeping with MotorActive’s DNA of delivering above expectations, there was so much more.
Bentley Motors supplied a limited-edition GT3-R (one of 300), two Flying Spurs and a Continental GT convertible for spirited demonstration laps around Mount Panorama. This is an incredibly rare opportunity as the public road only becomes a closed race circuit a handful of times a year. Even more extraordinary were the chauffeurs; Maximilian Buhk, Guy Smith, David Brabham and John Bowe, who allegedly wound the Flying Spur up to 250km/h down Conrod! Nick from Euro Motor Sport was so excited about his awesome lap in the Bentley that he vowed to be back next year. “Proper lap ’round Bathurst; ticked that one off my bucket list!” says Phil James. Saturday activities also included tours through the pit garages of Fitzgerald Racing Services and Justin McMillan’s M-Motorsport, home of the Interlloy Lambo.
Race day kicked off with the highly anticipated pre-race grid walk. With all 50 cars lined up in darkness, this is an intense 20-minute session that left everybody buzzing with excitement. Following this was 12 hours of incredible racing, private shuttles up to the spectacular viewing areas at the top of the mountain – and of course the deluxe Liqui-Moly hospitality suite. There’s no better way to immerse yourself in the Bathurst than as a Liqui-Moly VIP guest.
